Finally, An Update!

Hi everyone,

First, my sincere apologies for not keeping this site updated. Unfortunately, SIAD falls during a very busy time of year for us, and we have essay and exams to worry about on top of planning this event.

This year's event was slightly smaller than we had hoped, but we still had a lot of positive responses from students, faculty, and members of the community. Thanks to everyone who helped out this year: Jessica Park, Meaghan Granger, Lacey B. Richmond, Sarah Fisher, and Curtis Prebble, and thank you to everyone else who stopped by to chat and spend time with us at the booth.

This being my final year at Nipissing, I will be leaving North Bay in the coming months, and will be handing over this project to someone else. I haven't yet decided how this is going to work, and I haven't heard from anyone who is definitely interested in taking over. And with so many people heading into a very busy school year in September, it's difficult to find someone who has the time. For anyone who is interested, give me a shout at the SIAD account - Nipissing_SIAD_2006@hotmail.com, and we can chat.

Thanks again for another great year everyone.

Cheers,
Jennifer A. Dupuis

This blog is intended to be a hub for the Self-Injury Awareness Project at Nipissing Univeristy and Canadore College. It is my hope that we can use this site to provide information, get feedback, and raise awareness.

We have just concluded the SIAD 2006 project, and had very positive feedback from the schools and the community. Below is a phote taken by Kate Adams of BayToday.ca, a local online newspaper. The full article can be found here.

I hope that we can continue this project and expland it beyond the walls of the school and into the rest of North Bay. If you live in North Bay and attend Nipissing University or Canadore College and would like to become involved, email us at Nipissing_SIAD_2006@hotmail.com. Th email is checked regularly, so we will get back to you as soon as possible.
